Meet the new Tree Trust Program Manager, Mike Reichert!

PLAY Boulder Foundation is thrilled to welcome Mike Reichert to our team as the new Tree Trust Program Manager! Our communications team recently chatted with Mike to get to know him and learn about his plans for the Tree Trust.

Welcome to the PLAY Boulder team, Mike! Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background as it relates to your new position as Tree Trust Program Manager?

“Protecting the urban canopy and taking action to help solve the climate crisis is what intrigued me about the position,” said Mike.

“My background aligns with the Tree Trust Program Manager position nicely. I have a degree in teaching, and a main goal of the program will be to train and educate the community via the Tree Tender volunteer program.”

“I also spent the last 5 years developing community partnerships at a non-profit in Boulder. The Tree Trust Program Manager position will require community engagement, organizing, and outreach; all things I enjoy.”

What are you most looking forward to about being the new TTPM?

“I am most looking forward to engaging the community in planting trees and helping to grow the urban tree canopy. In December of 2023, I would love to be celebrating with the community that we helped to plant over 3000 new trees. And we helped to protect the trees we currently have.”

What inspired you to work for nonprofits, both now and in your past work experience?

“I believe strongly in giving back to the community. I am lucky that I can work in the nonprofit world and collaborate with others to improve the spaces we share.”

What are some projects you’re excited about and how can the community get involved with what's to come for the Tree Trust in 2023?

“We will be having at least 2 cohorts of Tree Tender training sessions in 2023. Registration for the first cohort is open now. Click here to register now!

“The fall dates are still TBD, but most likely will happen in August. People should sign up for our newsletter to stay up to date on activities. We’ll also be hosting community plantings, organizing community tree giveaways, and we’ll be having a tree sale in the fall. We’ll need help with all of these activities!”
