Thank you to our Boulder Community!

The PLAY Boulder Foundation would like to extend our immense gratitude to all the duck adopters, event sponsors, volunteers and attendees who made the 2023 Great Boulder Duck Race such a huge success! We could not have done it without the support of our wonderful local community. We are so grateful to everyone who participated and helped make the 34th year of this beloved Boulder tradition one for the memory books!

In total, over $8,000 was raised!! All funds raised at the Duck Race support PLAY Boulder in our mission to create equitable access to recreation for low-income families and people with disabilities, as well as supporting the work of our Tree Trust and our placemaking efforts throughout Boulder. Thank YOU for quacking for a great cause!

Adoption Teams

Thank you so much to all duck adoption teams that participated in this year’s Duck Race! Your efforts contributed immensely to the fundraiser and brought the (friendly) competitive spirit to the event.

This year’s competition was fierce, but three teams came out on top. In third place, The Ducking Nuts at BMC Pharmacy raised $135. This adoption team was formed by one of our event sponsors, Boulder Medical Center, and this squad of coworkers was full of enthusiasm through all the lead up to race day! Coming in strong to take second place, The Dancing Ducks @ Kinesis raised $320. This team was created by local dance studio, Kinesis Dance, who is also one of our quacktastic PLAYpass service providers! And finally, the winner of the 2022 Team Adoptoin Competition was Gone Quackers with $920 raised! This team of neighbors and friends defended their 2021 adoption competition win with a second victory this year. Congratulations to our winning teams, and thank you again to ALL of our teams for their efforts and donations this year!

Boulder Fire-Rescue vs. Boulder Police

The Boulder Fire-Rescue department and the Boulder Police reignited their head-to-head team adoption competition for the second year running!

In the end, the Boulder Police department wasn’t ready to quit the fight and their duck paddled slightly ahead to cross the finish line first in the race around the lazy river! The close finishes kept our event attendees on the edge of their seat, and the department’s playful banter brought a whole lot of quacktastic entertainment to this year’s event.

Thank you so much to both departments for your fundraising efforts!

Thank you all for a quacktastic 2023 Great Boulder Duck Race!
